“Greater Bay Area – Jiangmen Career Exploration Tours” Programme

Thirty students from S4 and S6 of our school participated in Greater Bay Area – Jiangmen Career Exploration Tours” Programme organised by the Career Life Planning Education Section of the Education Bureau from 15 to 16 May 2026. This two-day, one-night trip took students out of the classroom, allowing them to deepen their understanding of Jiangmen City through first-hand observation and experience, and to learn about the latest developments in the food manufacturing industry there. The students visited Guangdong Jian zhi yuan Health Food (Lingzhi and Related Products) Co., Ltd., Lee Kum Kee Group, Guangdong Jiashili Food Group Co., Ltd (Biscult manufacturer), Amos Candy Land, Jiangmen Wuyi Museum of Overseas Chinese, and Qimingli Scenic Area.

This exploration journey enabled students to understand the advanced production operations, food technology, and innovative ideas of food enterprises in Jiangmen. Taking the Lee Kum Kee Group as an example, the company, driven by its "eternal entrepreneurial spirit", started with the sauce business, then ventured into the Chinese herbal health products sector, and later expanded into the cultivation, management and sales of Chinese medicinal herbs, further consolidating its leadership in the Chinese herbal health industry. The group never rests on its achievements; it seizes opportunities and pursues breakthrough innovations (for example, the delicious oyster sauce quail eggs and oyster sauce ice cream are exclusive products of the Lee Kum Kee Jiangmen headquarters), developing diversified businesses with a global footprint. The group also actively engages in charitable and public welfare projects to achieve sustainable development for both the enterprise and the world.

The Jiangmen Wuyi Museum of Overseas Chinese gave students a deep understanding of the diligent and hardworking spirit of Chinese people overseas, as well as the richness of Chinese culture. The museum’s "Roots in the Hometown" exhibition on the history of Jiangmen’s overseas Chinese, guided by the themes of "Root", "Soul" and "Dream", showcases the entrepreneurial history and cultural heritage of overseas Chinese of Jiangmen origin. The museum houses over 40,000 physical objects (sets) related to overseas Chinese, including fine pieces such as Qiaopi (overseas Chinese remittance letters) and overseas Chinese passports, placing it among the top museums of its kind in the country in terms of scale and value. The clear explanations provided by the docents effectively enhanced the students’ sense of national identity, belonging and cultural confidence.

In summary, this exploration tour broadened the participants’ horizons, gave them a better understanding of the opportunities and prospects for development (such as starting a business or seeking employment) in mainland China, and helped them to understand themselves, make personal plans and set future goals.
