Innovating the Future, Embracing Heritage:
LMC STEM Explorers – Study Tour to Seoul
30 S3 to S5 students recently returned from an enriching five-day exchange to Seoul, South Korea (from 30/04 to 04/05), where they explored the intersection of technological advancement and vibrant cultural tradition. This immersive experience was designed to inspire the next generation of innovators and global citizens.
Hands-On STEM Discovery
The journey began with a focus on environmental responsibility at the Seoul Energy Dream Centre. Students engaged in hands-on workshops, experimenting with renewable energy technologies and exploring how eco-friendly architecture contributes to a carbon-neutral future. The exploration of technology continued at the Samsung Innovation Museum. Here, students moved through time, tracing the history of electronics from the dawn of electricity to the latest semiconductor and mobile breakthroughs that define our modern world.
Culture and Academic Aspirations
Our cultural itinerary was headlined by a visit to the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), where the group stood before its iconic neo-futuristic structure. At HiKR Ground, students experienced the "K-Wave" firsthand through multi-sensory media art and digital play. A pivotal moment of the tour was the visit to Yonsei University. Walking through the ivy-covered historic campus, students engaged with local guides, gaining invaluable insights into the academic rigour and student life at one of Asia’s top-tier institutions.
This exchange has equipped our students with a broader global perspective, blending scientific curiosity with a deep respect for international culture.
